Certification entails all prospective foster parent inquiries, orientation, and initial foster parent training. Foster parents are required to participate in CPR/First Aid training prior to being certified as a foster parent. Orientation is conducted regularly (the second Tuesday of each month), and a 16 hour certification training series is conducted monthly for interested parents. Case studies and home evaluations are conducted prior to a home being officially certified by the agency. Other documentation and a commitment to providing a safe and growth focused environment for children are required.
